PHONE ALERT READINESS
Keep official alerts within reach.
This independent website supplements government information. Its browser notifications use the internet and require the page to be open. It cannot send a government cell broadcast or verify your phone's carrier settings.
Check the settings on your phone
- iPhone: Settings → Notifications → Government Alerts. Available switches depend on country, carrier, SIM/eSIM and device software. Apple's official guide.
- Android: Search Settings for “Wireless emergency alerts”. Google's guide lists Notifications → Wireless emergency alerts; manufacturers may place it elsewhere. Google's official guide.
Some alert types and test options are country-specific. A visible setting does not establish that a carrier supports every feature or that a warning will reach you. Follow your carrier's and local authorities' guidance.
What WEA means for this project
US Wireless Emergency Alerts are one delivery channel within FEMA's IPAWS. This Maharashtra project adopts clear source attribution, affected-area information, original instructions, expiry and cancellation handling. Browser polling and offline cached information have different delivery limitations from cell broadcast.
“No sign-up” is a useful product principle: this bulletin needs no account or phone number. It does not imply automatic alerts to all nearby phones. A cached alert may be outdated, and no matching alert does not mean an all clear.
Check readiness without creating an emergency
Read the manufacturer instructions, check the relevant settings yourself, and follow officially announced test schedules. This website cannot initiate a carrier test. Do not call an emergency helpline simply to test it.
